About HICK Tech

"In the world of the information highway, parts of Grey and Bruce are still puttering down two-lane country roads." Jim Algie, The Owen Sound Sun Times

This is how HICK Tech was first introduced to the community in March 2007. Originally a one-day conference, HICK Tech has grown into a full-service community consulting firm. Feedback from the first conference was overwhelmingly positive and included comments like, "a real community builder", "inspiring and motivating" and "best of all, it was local." Energy and enthusiasm has continued to build for this project since its inception.

More information about the 2007 and 2008 conferences are available in the archives. The audio recording of the 2008 conference can be ordered on-line.

HICK Tech is organized by Owen Sounder Emma Hogbin.

Talkin' 'bout HICK Tech

The relationship between rural areas and technology is such an important one, particularly in Canada where we are so geographically dispersed (even though 90% of us live near the border, it's a BIG border). If HICK Tech's success continues, I would love to see it become a national tour, delivered in rural communities across Canada.
