I'm down in Cleveland this weekend talking about HICK Tech at NotACon. Our small town "con"ference has been very well received. They want to know more about the Grey County broadband initiative (and are fascinated by the idea of OMAFRA funding broadband), they want to know why we've got such an amazing line-up of speakers. ("But how did you manage to get Flickr AND Yahoo! Canada AND the Guardian to come to a Canadian hockey arena?!".) They can't believe we're carbon neutral and waste-free. They're baffled that we're using local beef and grains for our meals. They love the fact that we're looking at both high tech issues and taking punkin' chuckin' seriously. My slides are available on-line. The main message of my presentation is how to organize your own successful community event. There will also be a recording released on the NotACon Web site of the presentation.
