TheOwen.com sponsors the business birds of a feather content stream
HICK Tech is very pleased to announce TheOwen.com as the Business Birds of a Feather sponsor.
TheOwen.com is an on-line, new media platform for discussion, collaboration, and information gathering in and around the Owen Sound/Grey-Bruce Area. The site will go live March 1st 2007 but that's not to say there isn't a lot going on. Keep an eye out for signs around town or drop by theOwen.com for a look at what's to come.
TheOwen is one of many projects slated for launch in the area by Ryan Wiseman, and his web strategy and production company, rjgcreative. Ryan has recently returned to the Owen Sound area and hopes to facilitate an on going discussion of how the web, technology and local creativity can be leveraged for the longterm benefit of this community.
Advisory Committee Meeting Update
The HICK Tech Advisory Committee met for the first time last night at the Ginger Press. Their thoughts, questions and discussion have helped me to clarify the vision for the HICK Tech Forum.
The committee identified several potential content streams for the forum. We will now offer four Birds of a Feather content streams at the HICK Tech Forum. Alphabetically, they are:
- Business
- Digital Lifestyles
- Education
- Health
There will also be non-streamed sessions. (And including alternate versions of the alphabet in my email to the committee. Whoops. We'll see if they notice...)
Ginger Press sponsors the pre-keynote wine and cheese
HICK Tech is very pleased to announce The Ginger Press as a keynote sponsor. The cafe will be providing the food for the pre-keynote "wine and cheese."
Located in downtown Owen Sound since 1984, The Ginger Press is a bookshop, a café and a publishing house. Featured in the June 2004 issue of Canadian Living, The Ginger Press is an exuberant centre in a thriving literary and creative community. Readers and writers gather in this comfortable environment to exchange ideas, discuss their latest projects and connect over books. Please visit their Web site at: www.gingerpress.com. Pssst. They've got free high speed wireless too. BYO-laptop. Buy a delicious lunch or snack and a coffee (fair trade organic, of course) while you're there.
