Media Releases
The 2008 conference is starting to take shape. Behind the scenes potential sponsors have been contacted, the keynote speaker has been booked, and the venue has been booked. Within the next week or two this site will be revamped to include information on the 2008 conference (all 2007 conference information will be archived). Early bird tickets will be available for sale as of December 1.
For the '08 conference I will be using a new style of media release which is specifically designed to take advantage of the multi-media capabilities of the Web. Check out how other firms are using this new style for an old promotional tool:
(Note: to play the video you will need a high speed Internet connection. If you don't have a high speed internet connection, check out the text-based resources below the video instead.)

- What people are saying about it
- webitpr has also designed their own version, inspired by the Shift original (one, two).
At the Tech Expo
Were you at the Home and Cottage Expo this weekend? Did you come and say hi? It was great to meet you too! I had a fantastic weekend sitting in the HICK Tech booth at the Home and Cottage Expo's Tech Expo. I got to meet all kinds of really neat people and got asked a whole whack of very interesting questions. (It looks like HICK Tech 2008 will have an entire Food & Agriculture Content Stream!)
The most common question of the event:
I live in the country. Can you get me high speed Internet access?
(If you're an ISP that can do this, you DEFINITELY want to be part of HICK Tech.)
The other question that came up twice during the weekend was a comment on BusinessVision, a point of sale commerce solution for retail (and on-line retail) stores. On Saturday I casually told two women (who I think do farm equipment retail) to give me their contact information and I'd put my ear to the ground for them. Then on the SECOND day when ANOTHER group of people asked me the very same question about the very same product I knew it was too weird to be true! Are you using BusinessVision within the Grey/Bruce region? Drop me an email. It sounds like there ought to be a local "BusinessVision user group" to solve some of the common problems that I heard about this weekend.
And that's what HICK Tech is all about: a technology-using community coming together to talk about problems and to share experiences and answers.
I look forward to seeing you at HICK Tech!
