It's all a Lie! Virtualization and how it can use the Internet to make good things happen at the right price
If you've lasted this far and you still have room for a bit more, Congratulations!
By now it will be pretty obvious that the majority of the different technologies you've seen focus on a simple browser based endpoint. Consider also that thanks to Moore's Law, computers are reaching a point where they have more processing and storage capacity than the end user needs or can fully use. Virtualization is an emerging technology that allows one physical computer to behave in every respect as if it were several physical computers. Coupling Virtualization with that ubiquitous web browser allows for the creation of efficient centralized computing facilities capable of delivering significant economies of scale. The end result is doing more with less.
I'll be using three virtualization scenarios, K-12 education, managing multiple PC office environments, and corporate sector training to show how this all hangs together, and get you thinking about how this technology could work for you.

Showcase: The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library
The next generation of library service is coming to your local library. Advances in information technology and the Internet are enabling smaller local libraries to deliver services, programs and even collections that rival their big city counterparts.
The traditional library still remains, but even within the walls of the library things are changing. In addition to books and magazines, libraries now include CDs, DVDs, ebooks, microfilms, and videos. Libraries are also reaching out beyond their walls. As libraries continue to embrace the Internet and other emerging technologies, patrons are able to access library programs, services and collections wherever there is Internet access.
Come discover how your local library connects you to global knowledge!

Using Moodle: Open Source Technology and the Future of Learning
Our students are changing, their needs are changing, our understanding of learning is changing, our student population is declining (rapidly) and on top of it all, our technology is changing.
In an effort to address many of the challenges of change, The Bluewater District School Board has implemented Moodle as part of its blended learning plan. Moodle is a free open source web-based learning management system (LMS) built on sound pedagogical principals. It has taken the world of learning technologies by storm, becoming the fastest growing and most talked about learning management system in higher education.
This interactive workshop will examine:
1. The advantage of using open source applications.
2. The open source business model.
3. The challenges of implementation a learning management system.
4. The impact and advantages of using technology in a blended learning context.
5. The role of technology in the future of our students in rural areas.
The session will be of interest to ICT professionals and entrepreneurs, corporate trainers and educators.
