Emma grew up in Owen Sound. She moved to Toronto and completed her B.Sc. in Environmental Science at the University of Toronto. From there she worked as a Web Specialist at TVOntario and taught Internet technologies at Seneca College and Humber College. She moved "back home" in 2005 and now works as a Web developer and small business consultant with her firm xtrinsic. Her clients include both local and international businesses.
Emma has traveled the world to speak at Free Software conferences (including Hungary, England, France and the USA). She speaks passionately about topics she deals with on a daily basis including rural technology, women in technology and crazy-technical things like revision control systems and data migration.
